UNISON accept that Cefndy faces an uncertain future due to changing global markets and the current commercial situation. In many ways the challenges Cefndy faces are the result of long-term failings from successive UK governments in relation industrial and economic policy which have impacted across the whole manufacturing sector.
But Cefndy has a history of facing challenges and overcoming them. It has been under threat before and on several past occasions the commitment and skills of staff and the support of Denbighshire County Councillors have found a way forward. Today we are asking that Denbighshire County Council make available any necessary budget to ensure Cefndy can continue to operate while the many alternative options proposed by staff, councillors and UNISON are properly explored.
