There’s a lot going on for school staff

If you work in a Denbighshire school, you will hopefully have received by now an email from Laura Dodds.  She is our UNISON local organiser and will be working with us in Denbighshire on building the union in our schools.

The email contains a survey of schools members so we can learn more about your priorities and how we can best work together to resolve them.  You can access the form here UNISON CYMRU – Denbighshire Schools Campaign – Fill out form One of the reasons we have launched the project is because we have had quite a few cases in individual schools during the year.

Schools staff do an amazing job but also face many challenges such as violence in schools and poor pupil behaviour, being asked to go above and beyond job descriptions, many individual school specific issues and like all public sector workers and our whole community we all continue to suffer with the cost of living crisis.

Unions work best when we bring staff together to work on positive solutions to the challenges they face.  We believe public services function best when workers have a strong voice too.

I look forward to hearing your views and working with you to see improvements at work.  That goes for all our other non-schools staff too.  I you want to work with us to overcome challenges in any workplace we then now is a great time to get involved.   Our AGMs are coming in March and we will be looking for everything from workplace contacts, to stewards, to committee officer posts.  It’s your workplace and it’s your union help shape its future!
